About William Weissman

My passion is finding practical solutions to my clients’ employment problems. We are at the start of a fundamental shift in the nature of work and relationship between firms and workers that will reverberate through the legal landscape for several decades. I began my career in government and have both an MBA and LL.M. in tax. I leverage my diverse background -- as well as the knowledge and experience of 1,000+ Littler attorneys -- to provide my clients practical solutions and the best possible representation. My clients range from single-person start-ups looking to hire the first employee to Fortune 100 companies. I start by listening to each client and asking the probing questions needed to uncover issues and understand the organization. I then tailor my advice accordingly and use the law to advance business needs. I write and publish frequently about the changing the nature of work. My articles have appeared in publications such as State Tax Notes, the CPA Journal, and The New Republic. I have authored and co-authored several treatise chapters on worker status and employment tax issues and written articles about government contracting. I have been quoted in Forbes, Bloomberg, Silicon Valley Business Journal, and Workforce Magazine, among other publications. My areas of expertise include: • Worker Status. I help clients address worker status issues and defend those relationships when necessary. • Employment Tax Issues. I provide advice on a wide range of employment tax issues such as the proper tax treatment of fringe benefits, garnishments, paycards, among others. • Affirmative Action/OFCCP. I assist government contractors with the preparation of affirmative action plans and defend them in audits by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). I also provide clients advice relating to OFCCP jurisdiction, alleged single employer status, and disparate impact and discrimination in hiring, promotion and compensation.
