William Scherer

I put my 36 years of legal experience to use in promoting my clients’ goals for success. As the founder of Scherer Smith & Kenny LLP, I am trusted counsel and value building long-term relationships. I counsel businesses of all sizes and across a range of industries – start-ups to multi-state businesses. I have deep experience in licensing and other copyright issues. I advise clients in all areas of real estate, from leasing, formation and financing, to real estate development. I uniquely focus in common interest development matters. I also have a robust estates and trust practice, meeting the needs of the executives of my many business and real estate clients. I initially focus on analyzing the issues to determine a range of solutions. By placing the issues first, my clients clearly understand their options and control their goals. My unselfish, collaborative style and ability to communicate effectively with opposing counsel is key to the successful outcomes I achieve. I also match my clients with the full range of specialties practiced by my firm's colleagues, providing them with broad expertise. Prior to joining Brandon Smith to form Scherer & Smith, LLP in 1998, which would later become Scherer Smith & Kenny LLP, I worked at two San Francisco firms before opening Law Offices of William M. Scherer in 1993. I am a member of the business law, real estate, intellectual property, and estates and trusts sections of the California State Bar, and a member of the San Francisco Bar Association.
