William Fennell

Bill Fennell focuses his practice on bankruptcy and creditors' rights. Bill’s experiences cover a variety of industries, including real estate, manufacturing, commercial lending, construction, transportation and logistics, technology, life science, beauty supply and agriculture. He represents creditors in complex commercial Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 proceedings, most recently representing creditors in local and national bankruptcy proceedings such Sears, Payless Shoes and Charlotte Russe. He handles all aspects of cases from pre-bankruptcy planning through plan confirmation, and through the process of assumption and assignment of contracts and leases. Bill and those at Fennell Law have significant experience in reorganization/restructuring as well as bankruptcy/civil litigation matters. He represents secured and unsecured creditors, Trustees, fiduciaries, landlords, and parties that find it necessary to pursue their claims before a bankruptcy court. He has prosecuted and defended parties in complex litigation matters before bankruptcy court and other courts throughout the State of California. He has represented Trustees and creditors in the prosecuting and defending of preference and fraudulent conveyance actions, sometimes referred to as claw back claims. Having accumulated a substantial number of Judgments for his clients, Bill and those at Fennell Law have experience and are successful in the enforcement and collection of Judgments. Mr. Fennell received his B.A. from the College of Santa Fe in 1983 and his J.D. from California Western School of Law in 1992. He interned for the Honorable John J. Hargrove (retired) in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California in fall 1991. Born and raised on the South Shore of Massachusetts, Mr. Fennell moved to New Mexico for his undergraduate education and later to San Diego to study and to practice law.
