William Davis

William Howard "Bill" Davis is a recently retired Tallahassee FL-based trial and appellate lawyer. His litigation practice ranged from administrative defense of professional licenses and criminal defense (adult and juvenile), to include a wide breadth of civil litigation (e.g., professional and products liability as well as personal injury, wrongful death and business and other disputes). He practiced law and otherwise served the profession for nearly 50 years. As a part of his litigation practice, he represented litigation clients from the lowest to the highest of trial and appellate courts, both State and Federal. He enjoyed the highest possible ("Preeminent") peer-review rating, in both legal ability and ethical standards, as confidentially determined and published by Martindale-Hubbell and LexisNexis. For The Florida Bar statewide, Mr. Davis served as elected Member of The Florida Bar's Board of Governors (2010-16) and on the Board's Disciplinary Review Committee and its Review Committee on Professional Ethics. He has served on The Florida Bar's Civil Rules Committee and on the Bar's Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services. He is past President of the Florida Bar Foundation (2005-06) and is former Chair of the Foundation's Endowment Trust (2009-11). He is an emeritus member of The Florida Supreme Court's Commission on Professionalism and served as Trustee of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society (Executive Committee) (2006-10). Locally, Mr. Davis served on the Second Circuit Court Judicial Nominating Commission, as Chair of The Florida Bar's Second Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, and as President of Tallahassee Bar Association (1986-87). Nationally, with the American Bar Association, was a member of the Litigation Section Ethics and Professionalism Committee, the White Collar Crime Committee, and the Juvenile Justice Committee. Mr. Davis is certified in SCUBA Life Saving And Accident Management, and is an avid cook, hiker, angler, and music buff. He has three adult children with the number of grandchildren that is pleasantly in flux. He remains available, able and ready to consult, without practicing law, with able counsel doing good work.
