W. West Allen

W. West Allen is an intellectual property and Constitutional law attorney in Las Vegas who represents a wide variety of international clients in federal courts. He is a partner with the national law firm of Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC with extensive experience resolving intellectual property disputes concerning patents, trademarks, copyrights, and other Constitutional and federal court claims. Mr. Allen served as the National President of the Federal Bar Association for its 2020-2021 term and has authored a series of articles published by the FBA on the fundamental principles of the U.S. Constitution. He served as Chair of the FBA's Government Relations Committee for seven years and testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Bankruptcy and the Courts regarding the effect of budget cuts on our federal courts. Mr. Allen was elected a national officer of the FBA in 2007, serving as Vice President for the Ninth Circuit, and Chair for the FBA Circuit Vice Presidents from 2009-2011. He was elected to the FBA's National Board of Directors for two three-year terms in 2011 and again in 2015. Mr. Allen co-founded the Nevada State Bar’s Intellectual Property Section and was elected the Section’s first Chair in 2004. Mr. Allen was appointed in 2005 by the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada, to serve on the Court’s Civil Rules Subcommittee of the Standing Committee on the Local Rules of Practice. He has since served on various federal Local Rules committees and served five times on the Federal Court's Magistrate Judge Merit Selection and Re-appointment Panel. Mr. Allen drafted Nevada's Local Rules of Practice for Patent Cases in 2011. Mr. Allen serves on the Southern Nevada Federal Judicial Commission to assist Nevada's U.S. Senators in selecting candidates to serve as a U.S. District Judge. Mr. Allen is peer rated an "AV/Preeminent Attorney" by Martindale-Hubbell and has been featured in "Mountain States Super Lawyers" since 2010. He has been selected as a Legal Elite in the "Top 100 Attorneys in Southern Nevada" as published by Nevada Business and listed in the 2010-2025 editions of The Best Lawyers in America®, by Woodward/White, Aiken, S.C. Within his community, Mr. Allen has taught Intellectual Property & Internet Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He serves on the Foundation Board of Directors for "Nevada's favorite charity" Opportunity Village. He also volunteers as a pro bono attorney for the Children's Attorneys Project (CAP) with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada.
