About Tyler Young

I am a partner with Young, Kester, Black & Jube in Provo and of counsel at Dewsnup, King, Worel, Olsen, Worel and Havas (DKOW) in Salt Lake City, one of Utah's most accomplished personal injury firms. I have been practicing law since 2006, representing injured individuals throughout Utah. I was elected President of the Utah State Bar for 2026-2027. I previously served two terms on the Utah State Bar Commission (2021, continuing through my swearing-in as President). I currently serve on the Ethics Advisory Opinion Committee, the Admissions Committee, and the Utah State Bar Budget and Finance Committee. I am a Board Member for the Utah Association for Justice (Utah's trial lawyer association), where I have served on the Amicus Committee, Education Committee, and Membership Committee. I have chaired multiple CLE events for UAJ, including the Bi-Annual Brain Injury Conference and the Annual Conference (twice). My practice focuses on serious injury and wrongful death cases, including auto accidents, trucking collisions, bus crashes, side-by-side and ATV accidents, slip-and-fall cases, dog bites, and construction zone injuries. I also handle insurance bad faith litigation and medical malpractice cases. Since beginning practice, I have achieved significant results for my clients, including involvement in one of the largest published injury settlements in Utah history—a $27,000,000 settlement with Greyhound. I have also secured a construction zone death case verdict in excess of $4,000,000, a $3,000,000 wrongful death verdict involving a fatal bear attack, multiple medical malpractice verdicts, and a wrongful death verdict in a train wreck case. I obtained an excess verdict of nearly $1,000,000 in a case where the insurance policy limit was only $100,000 (almost 50 times my client's medical special damages), and a slip-and-fall verdict against Dollar General that was nearly three times their pretrial offer. I have successfully litigated numerous jury trials and arbitrations, and have won appeals before both the Utah Court of Appeals and the Utah Supreme Court. In 2012, I was selected as one of the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40. In 2011, I attended Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming, where I trained with Gerry Spence and talented trial lawyers from across the country in advanced trial tactics. As part of my commitment to the College, I vowed to only represent those who are taken advantage of by insurance companies, large corporations, or governments.
