Tod Gurney

I am the head of Garcia & Gurney’s General Civil Litigation practice group. My practice focuses on commercial and business disputes including real estate, leasing, construction, collections, employment, unfair business practices, business ownership, and claims of banks and financial institutions. I regularly appear in state and federal court, as well as private forums such as mediations and arbitrations. I am a San Francisco Bay Area native with a deep commitment to community service. I was a member of the 2008 class of the Pleasanton Leadership program and I am currently serving as a member of the board of directors of InnVision, which addresses homelessness in Santa Clara County and San Mateo County. Along with my partner Melinda Garcia, I have served for several years as a coach for the Amador Valley High School Mock Trial team, which was Alameda County Champion in 2007. I was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1998. I am also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of California. Professional memberships include the California State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the Eastern Alameda County Bar Association, and the Contra Costa County Bar Association. I received my Juris Doctor degree from the Santa Clara University School of Law in 1998, where I was an Articles Editor on the Santa Clara Law Review. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis, in 1993. Prior to joining Garcia & Gurney in 2008, I practiced in the Commercial Litigation Group of the San Jose, California law firm of Hopkins & Carley. Previous to that, I was a research attorney for the Santa Clara County Superior Court. I also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable James M.
