Toby Dilworth

Toby Dilworth represents individuals and businesses in complex civil and criminal litigation. He has advocated in federal and state courts on behalf of businesses and business owners in disputes about contracts, corporate governance, and fiduciary duties. Highly regarded by his peers, other lawyers and law firms have also retained Toby to represent them in professional malpractice and legal ethics matters. He has served as an expert witness on behalf of the Maine Board of Bar Overseers. Toby also has experience in criminal law. As a federal prosecutor, Toby received the U.S. Department of Justice's Director's Award for sustained superior performance. He successfully prosecuted the second case in the nation to go to trial under the Economic Espionage Act.; the defendants were convicted of stealing a Maine company's trade secrets. In private practice, Toby achieved the dismissal of federal Clean Water Act charges against his client in federal court in Michigan. After a trial in Maine Superior Court, Toby won the acquittal of his client charged with a $1.6 million securities fraud.
