About Thomas Ryan
I am a plaintiff’s trial lawyer, registered patent attorney, and software developer building AI-assisted tools and workflows for modern litigation.I am a plaintiff’s trial lawyer, registered patent attorney, and software developer building AI-assisted tools and workflows for modern litigation. At Ryan, LLP, I represent injured people and families in serious personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and complex civil litigation. I have tried more than 30 jury trials to verdict as first or second chair, argued before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and argued before the Supreme Court of Ohio in Moore v. Mercy Medical Center, Case No. 2024-1212.My background is unusual for a trial lawyer. In addition to practicing law, I continue to develop software and build technology systems for litigation, intake, case analysis, document review, and law-firm operations. I am also the founder of CoreText Litigation Intelligence, a platform focused on helping lawyers organize case facts, analyze records, prepare depositions, evaluate claims, and develop litigation strategy. That technical foundation shapes the way I approach modern litigation, including medical-record analysis, digital evidence, deposition preparation, legal research, case evaluation, settlement strategy, and trial preparation.I also speak and write about artificial intelligence in the legal system. My recent presentations and publications have addressed large language models, hallucinations, deepfakes, synthetic media, AI-generated misinformation, legal ethics, sanctions, practical AI tools for trial lawyers, and the integrity of the evidentiary record. My current focus is helping define what effective, ethical, AI-assisted litigation practice looks like for trial lawyers. AI should not replace legal judgment, but lawyers who understand AI, evidence, persuasion, litigation strategy, and software will have a decisive advantage.Core areas of practice and focus:✔ Medical malpractice✔ Wrongful death✔ Serious personal injury✔ Civil litigation and jury trials✔ Appellate advocacy✔ Artificial intelligence in law✔ Digital evidence and litigation technology✔ Legal software development✔ Patent law and technology disputesContact me:✉ thomas.ryan@ryanllp.com☎ 216-363-6028
