About Thomas Cole
In my role as Chair and CEO of Troutman Pepper Locke, I am dedicated to driving the firm's strategic and operational initiatives, with a focus on key industries that support economic growth. My leadership has been instrumental in achieving transformational change while maintaining a steady focus on client success and fostering a high-performance culture. Over the past five years, I have played a pivotal role in two major firm combinations. As Managing Partner and then Chair of Troutman Pepper, I oversaw our merger with Locke Lord, leading to the formation of Troutman Pepper Locke, a firm with approximately 1,600 attorneys across more than 30 offices. In 2020, I helped facilitate the merger between Pepper Hamilton and Troutman Sanders, resulting in the establishment of Troutman Pepper. During my tenure as Managing Partner, Troutman Pepper experienced significant revenue gains, attracted top talent in critical areas, executed the firm's first strategic plan, enhanced brand recognition, and launched a market-leading client value program. I am also dedicated to exploring the impact of emerging technologies on the legal profession. This commitment led to the formation of our Generative AI task force and the development of our proprietary GenAI tool, Athena. I co-lead the firm's Executive Committee and serve as Chair of the Policy Committee.
