Thomas Beck

Thomas E. Beck was admitted to practice in CA in 1978. Is admitted in the federal courts in the Central, Eastern and Southern Districts of CA, the 9th Cir. Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Beck is a Police Misconduct/Civil Rights Lawyer practicing in state and federal courts from the Mexican Border to San Francisco. Mr. Beck has completed 237 jury trials in civil and criminal cases, has multiple published opinions in the California Courts of Appeal and the 9th Circuit and has had multiple Petitions for Review granted by the California Supreme Court relating to discovery of police officer and department records. Beck has been awarded numerous professional honors and citations, published articles and teaching material for police misconduct practitioners and has taught and lectures on the subject matter. Mr. Beck has been counsel of record on multiple famed police abuse cases, including Rodney King's civil suit, the Samoan Bridal Shower incident involving the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department which resulted in acquittals of his clients for allegedly throwing rocks and bottles in the City of Cerritos and which resulted in a multi million dollar verdict against 35 deputies, a sergeant and the County of Los Angeles; Hawthorne PD Sgt. Don Jackson's undercover sting with NBC's Today show against the Long Beach Police Department to expose racial profiling of African Americans, which lead to the passage of California Penal Code section 118.1 which finally made it a crime for a cop to file a false report. Beck uncovered narcotics planting by LASD "strike team" deputies which resulted in the criminal prosecutionof a deputy who planted the "drugs." Beck is currently on the team litigating the civil side of the Kelly Thomas Fullerton PD homicide.
