Thomas Barton

I am an attorney and shareholder at Parsons Behle & Latimer. Much of my practice is commercial litigation and employment law. I have handled cases involving the internet and related intangible property rights, natural resources, professional malpractice, contract disputes, construction law, corporate disputes and estate planning/tax disputes. Currently, I am a federal-court-appointed receiver in a securities fraud lawsuit. I have litigation experience at the trial and appellate court levels, as well as a variety of other forums--including binding arbitration, mediation, and administrative proceedings. At both Prince, Yeates & Geldzahler Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy, I was a shareholder and former director. I have been an attorney since 1994. I am a member of the Utah State bar, and admitted to practice in all Utah courts. I am also admitted in the United States Tax Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. I have been involved with the Tracy Aviary since 2005. I served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for two years, and am still on the Board. The Tracy Aviary is the oldest free standing aviary in the United States, and is currently undergoing a $19M capital rennovation, funded through a general obligation bond from Salt Lake County. In between college and law school, I taught English at Rowland Hall-St. Marks School in Salt Lake City. Specialties: Commercial litigation and employment law.
