As a member of the Commercial Litigation Team, I am working to grow and promote the Firm's services in the areas of complex and commercial litigation, business legal risk management and insurance coverage, and professional liability defense as well as to increase the Firm's business and community involvement. Currently involved in multidistrict litigation venued in the Northern District of Ohio involving the enforcement of financial guarantee surety bonds issued to support the private structured financing of a subprime equipment lease originator/servicer. Represented The Ohio Lottery Commission and its Director at trial against a lawsuit brought by GTECH Corporation claiming that the Lottery abused its discretion and misapplied the law in awarding a new lottery gaming services contract to Intralot, Inc. The Court upheld the Lottery's procurement process, and rejected GTECH's claims and request to enjoin performance of the contract. The projected savings to the Lottery over the life of the new contract is $240 million. Successfully represented financial institutions against claims arsing out of role as indenture trustee of a municipal bond financed FHA mortgage loan, the referral of bank transactions to federal and local authorities for criminal investigation and prosecution, and the termination of a business relationship. Successfully defended professionals (lawyers, physicians, psychologists, insurance brokers and agents, etc.) against professional negligence claims Successfully defended product manufacturers (medical device, industrial, consumer, etc.) against product liability claims. Represented businesses and employers in unfair competition, trade secret, discrimination and other business tort claims.
