My core practice centers on federal criminal defense. I’ve defended clients against nearly every type of federal charge—from DWI to terrorism—but my focus is on: - White collar defense, including: pre-charge representation (grand jury subpoenas, agency inquiries); and defense in cases involving wire/mail fraud, healthcare fraud, tax evasion, securities violations, money laundering, Lacey Act violations, illegal importation, and public corruption - Criminal conspiracy and organized crime - Crimes of violence, including capital and death-eligible cases - Narcotics and firearms offenses - Sentencing advocacy under the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and §3553(a) - Federal appeals, including before the U.S. Courts of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court I serve as a Lead Panel Attorney under the Criminal Justice Act in both the Eastern District of Missouri and Southern District of Illinois, where I routinely handle multi-defendant conspiracies, public corruption, and complex financial crimes. I also defend individuals in Missouri state courts who are facing charges such as: - Homicide, assault, sex offenses, and drug crimes - Crimes against persons/property - DWI and alcohol related offenses - Expungements, post-conviction relief, clemency, and appeals In addition to my criminal practice, I also represent plaintiffs in: - Personal injury cases (including victims of crimes) - Student disputes with local universities (WUSTL, SLU, MIZZOU) - Employment discrimination, retaliation, and wage claims - Civil rights (Section 1983, police brutality, wrongful death) - Business torts and commercial disputes - Civil appeals in state and federal courts I am an Eight-term Board Member, Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and I frequently lecture on federal defense and trial strategy.
