Susan Long

Susan Asitanleh Long counsels businesses and individuals in all aspects of bankruptcy and insolvency matters. She represents parties in cases under Chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code, as well as in Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors in state court. She has extensive experience protecting creditors’ rights and representing business and individual debtors in complex restructuring and liquidation matters.  Susan began her legal career as an intern with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where she later became the Litigation Management Unit Supervisor, overseeing more than 1,000 active litigation matters. She then served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey, where she appeared before the Appellate Division of the Superior Court on behalf of the State. This was followed by 15 years of operating her own practice, serving individuals, businesses, and third parties in bankruptcy matters. Susan is committed to both her profession and her community. She serves on the Board of Directors of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC-NJ), a professional organization that promotes the development and support of women in the insolvency and restructuring sector. In recognition of her dedication to pro bono service, she was awarded the Equal Justice Medal by Legal Services of New Jersey in 2019 and again in 2025.  Susan attended Fordham University School of Law and is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey, Texas (pending), U.S. District Court of New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. She has been a presenter and speaker on various topics related to bankruptcy matters and the practice.
