I have been a state bar-certified appellate specialist for two decades, handling nearly 150 appeal and writ proceedings for parties and amici before all levels of appellate courts across the country, including the U.S. and California Supreme Courts and the D.C., Third, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits.I have also defended employers at the trial level in more than 200 class, representative, and collective actions, as well as numerous other employment and commercial cases. I concentrate my practice in wage and hour litigation, defending employers in retail sales, pharmaceuticals, information technology, food service, manufacturing, automotive, hospitality, education, defense, insurance and professional sports.I am a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation, a member of the California Lawyers Association Committee On Appellate Courts, the Editorial Board of California Litigation journal, and a former federal law clerk. I have served on the clinical faculties at UCLA School of Law and Stanford Law School, and frequently appear in the press as a commentator on developments in appellate practice and employment law.And I am one of a handful of attorneys who have appeared on the LawRocks stage for two bands in the same night!
