I got into this work because I wanted to sleep at night — and I get real fulfillment from giving a voice to people who feel like they don't have one. My recent trial record reflects that commitment: 2024 — Smart v. USA Labor for Hire, Inc., E.D.N.Y. A federal jury found my client was subjected to unlawful discrimination based on her sex and race, and that she was fired in retaliation for objecting to that harassment. I also proved defamation. Judgment: nearly $500,000. Successfully defended on appeal to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Grant v. Pexie Enterprises, Inc., et al.; Queens County Supreme Court. My client had been on the job for less than two weeks when she was sexually harassed, assaulted, and battered — then forced out. The jury returned a unanimous verdict finding the defendants liable for sexual harassment, assault, battery, and unlawful constructive discharge. They also rejected every counterclaim the defendants filed against her. I secured a 6-figure jury verdict plus an additional award for attorneys fees.
