About Steven Ferenczy
Self-professed leave nerd who loves all things absence and leave-related (including STD, LTD, and laws such as paid family medical leave, unpaid FMLA-parallel laws, paid sick leave laws, pregnancy-related leave laws, and others). My role with ACLI includes working with member companies to facilitate the development of committee positions and recommendations for ACLI policy on paid family medical leave issues, providing strategic advice regarding policy development, implementation, and oversight of paid family and medical leave programs, and providing other strategic support as needed regarding existing and future paid family medical leave programs. In my previous consulting role, I helped build out a leave and absence practice; managed a team of attorneys and compliance professionals; maintained deep knowledge of products to assist employers (e.g. PFML private plans); monitored, reviewed, and maintain a deep understanding employment and leave-related legislation (at the federal, state, and local levels); and consulted on numerous other leave related matters. I also previously practiced law at a national, management-side labor and employment law firm. While in private practice, I worked with a broad range of clients and represented them before governmental agencies, arbitrators and in state and federal courts. Along with my litigation background, I also frequently reviewed state and federal leave policies and provided day-to-day advice and counsel on a wide-variety of employment-related issues.
