Stephen Schmidt

I am a litigator and risk advisory professional. With a background as a business litigator and outside general counsel, I offer an efficient and targeted approach to solving issues that companies and individuals face. I represent and advise clients across a variety of industries in commercial and consumer disputes, non-compete and trade secret disputes, and employment and construction disputes. I focus on what drives a business, and what path will yield the best result for that specific dispute or legal issue based on the goals and needs of the business. I also draft and review contracts for businesses, and provide corporate compliance and risk advisory counsel. I have handled matters involving breaches of contract, asset recovery and a range of business torts. I also have significant experience with employment litigation, including trade secret and non-compete claims. This array of experience allows me to strategically advise a business on the spectrum of risk and protection to allow the business to focus on what it provides, and to thrive. I manage cases throughout the litigation process, including pre-suit demands and negotiation, all facets of discovery, and motion practice. I am well-versed in various means of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration. I advise clients ranging from Fortune 500 Companies to small businesses and individuals, and quickly shift to achieve results to best serve my clients in any circumstance. I am admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Ohio and Kentucky, before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
