About Stephen Bates
I am an Attorney/Shareholder at Southern Atlantic Law Group, practicing in and managing the firm’s Estate Planning, Probate, Guardianship, and Business Formation practice areas, while also continuing to serve clients in civil litigation matters. I am a former prosecutor for Tenth Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida (which covers Polk, Highlands and Hardee Counties). Prior to joining Southern Atlantic Law Group, I spent over 10 years in private practice with an established and respected firm in Lakeland, Florida. During that time I handled a variety of complex civil litigation matters, along with serving countless clients in the areas of estate planning, probate, guardianship, and business formation. I am licensed to practice law in Florida and in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.I am a member of the Polk County Trial Lawyers Association, the Polk Association for Women Lawyers, and a Barrister member in the Willson Inn of Court.I presently serve on the Board of Directors for non-profit organizations including Hollingsworth Winds, Inc., and the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra. I am also a trumpet player for the Hollingsworth Winds.
