Stefan Shaibani

I am a trial attorney representing plaintiffs in litigation and class action matters. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Boston University in 1997 and received my J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2000. From 2001-2002, I was a Law Clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco. From 2002 – 2005, I was a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division, where I was responsible for representation of the U.S. in approximately 50 complex commercial cases at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. From 2005 - 2022, I was the Founding Member of the Law Firm of Stefan Shaibani in Washington, DC representing plaintiffs in bodily injury, commercial and insurance litigation. Since 2022, I have been conducting disability, employment and ERISA class actions at the AARP Foundation on behalf of plaintiffs, including cases in which a class was certified by the U.S. District Court. I am admitted to the Bars of the State of California (2001), the District of Columbia (2004), and the State of Maryland (2007), the United States Court of Federal Claims (2002), the United States District Court for the District of Columbia (2005), the United States District Court for the District of Maryland (2008), and the United States Supreme Court (2025). I have been lead or co-lead counsel in approximately 140 litigation matters in state and federal courts in the DC metropolitan area.
