Sheryl Seiden

I am a founding partner of SeidenFreed LLC. I have been practicing law for nearly thirty years, with a practice dedicated to family law for nearly twenty-five years. I a the current President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New Jersey Chapter. I am trustee of the NJSBA. I am a Past Chair of the Family Law Executive Committee for the New Jersey State Bar Association. I am also a Fellow of the International American Academy Of Family Lawyers. I am part of the Matrimonial Lawyers’ Alliance Group. I co-authored a treatise on family law. In addition to my involvement with NJSBA, AAML and MLA, I often lecture and write articles about family law issues. I have authored and lectured for ICLE on alimony, equitable distribution, relocation, custody, parental alienation, and legislation issues. I also wrote and presented a program for law clerks and junior lawyers on how to effectively prepare a family case for each stage of the litigation process. I graduated cum laude from New York Law School where I was managing editor of The New York Law School Law Review from fall 1995 to spring 1996. I received my B.A. from The American Univerisity in Washington, D.C. where I graduate sum cum laude. I began my career as an attorney at Thacher, Proffitt & Wood where I gained valuable litiagtion experience. I continued my career as an attorney at Paul Hastings where I also worked in a large New York City lawfirm gaining valuable litigation experence. I began my career as a family lawyer at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman where I trained under Eleanor Alter, Esq. and Helene Brezinsky, Esq. and learned valuable experience on many large family law matters, involving complex issues. I also gained valuable family law experience at Boutique family lawfirm in Summit, NJ. After twenty years practicing law in several different law firms, I opened my own law dedicated to the practice of family issues. I merged my firm with another prestigious family law firm January 1, 2025. My focus is to provide exceptional legal services to clients in a strategic, solution-oriented and supportive manner. I believe knowledge is power. I pride myself in helping clients embrace their new beginnings.
