I am an experienced board member and attorney with a proven track record of successful representation of private individuals and corporations/ businesses. I pride myself in being a resource for my clients, and providing them with quality legal advice service to help them achieve their goals. I am a trained mediator and public speaker. I am a practicing attorney in the state of Maryland and is the founder and principal partner of Shawn D. Bartley and Associates, LLC. Our firm has successfully assisted in thousands of client matters. In the year 2011, I was recognized by "Legal Shield" as their top corporate referral attorney in Legal Shield's North American attorney network. I am an experienced and adept board member. I am currently chairman of the board for the Primary Care Coalition in Montgomery County, Maryland; a current member of the District of Columbia Scottish Rite Foundation; a current member of the Maryland State Board of Education as appointed by Governor Hogan; former Chairman of the Board for the Montgomery Collaboration Council for Children, Youth and Families; former member of the board for The Shepherd's Table in Silver Spring, Maryland. I am a graduate of the Valparaiso University School of Law in Valparaiso (2000) and the University of Maryland, College Park (1994). While in law school, I was active in numerous activities that included Moot Court, Mock Trial, Negotiation Team, and I was elected to the Student Bar Association. I am most proud of the Honor Paper he wrote in the class "Race Relations and the Constitution" taught by Professor/ Mayor Richard Hatcher (former Mayor of Gary, Indiana). While attending the University of Maryland, I was an active participant in the James McGregor Burns Academy of Leadership and a scholar athlete (football), earning my way toward a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications (1994). I am adept at public speaking and interpersonal communication. I became a Certified Toastmaster in 1997 with Toastmasters International, Inc. I served as president of local Toastmasters club “Demosthenes Wannabes” located on the campus of American Honda Motor Corporation, Torrance, California.
