Ronald Austin

Ron Austin is a principal at the law firm of Grant Austin, LLC in Chicago, Illinois. Grant Austin is dedicated to providing quality legal services to businesses, governmental agencies, and individual clients. Ron has more than 25 years of legal experience in the areas of business litigation, employment law, healthcare law, and product liability litigation. A significant portion of Ron’s practice involves representing clients in the healthcare and financial services industries. Ron has extensive experience drafting and litigating employment agreements, defending businesses in employment litigation, and conducting internal investigations. Additionally, Ron serves as national counsel in product liability cases, where he manages all aspects of the litigation, including trial. Ron is licensed to practice in Illinois and is a member of the trial bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is an active member in the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA), where he serves as the Treasurer, Executive Council member, and former Chair of the Mentor Committee. Ron is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys (IAHA). Additionally, Ron served on the Executive Committee and was the Chair of the Investigations Committee of the Chicago Bar Association's Judicial Evaluation Committee. Ron has been recognized in Super Lawyers Magazine every year since in 2019. In 2025, Ron received the Earl B. Dickerson Award from the Chicago Bar Association. This special award was established in honor of the late Earl B. Dickerson who was an outstanding lawyer and among the first African-American members of the Chicago Bar Association. His life and professional career were devoted to the law and helping others gain equality and justice. The CBA established the Dickerson Award to recognize and honor minority lawyers and judges whose careers at the bar emulate the courage and dedication of Dickerson in making the law the key to justice for all in our society.
