In the same week, I might sit with one family on the worst day of their lives and another on the best day of theirs. That contrast is the practice I've built. I'm the second-generation managing partner of Parker & Parker Attorneys at Law in Peoria, the firm my father founded. Today it does two very different kinds of work, both at a high level. When someone is seriously hurt, I represent them: car, truck, and motorcycle collisions, dog-bite injuries, nursing-home neglect, medical negligence, and wrongful death. I handle these cases personally, from the first phone call through settlement, mediation, or trial. My clients are usually going through the hardest stretch of their lives, and my job is to carry the legal weight so they can focus on healing. You pay nothing unless we win. When a family is ready to grow, I help them get there. Parker & Parker handles roughly 200 adoptions a year, most of them DCFS foster-to-adopt, along with private, relative, and stepparent adoptions and guardianships. I authored Chapters 4 and 21 of IICLE's Adoption Law treatise, a standard reference for Illinois practitioners, and I'm a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. What connects the two sides is how I run the firm. I build its technology myself: a legal knowledge system that puts decades of our own case files and Illinois authority at my fingertips, document-automation tools, and the research and analytics that let a small firm move faster and dig deeper than its size would suggest. Clients get the responsiveness of a boutique with the depth of a much larger shop.
