About Robert Gradoville
Sustainable supply chains, carbon/water programs; innovation portfolio management; cross-sector partnerships. I recently participated in the Aspen Institute First Movers Fellowship, refining my authentic leadership approach to work and life over my 15-yr career. A product of engineering education with deep experience in the global water crisis (US Peace Corps, Fulbright Assn., Water.org) and the climate crisis (Rivian, Cargill, Ellen MacArthur Foundation), with a challenger mindset (IDEO, Aspen Institute). I help the room feel comfortable asking the "dumb questions", foster collaboration to solve problems, and I open up others with vulnerability about personal challenges that I'm working to overcome. Call me Rob. My friends remember my sarcastic humor, open-mindedness, and thirst for learning. I'm impressed by leaders who are genuinely interested in others, reflective, and not too good at the executive presence thing. Two topics close to my heart are food and exploration. How we produce food can be a critical ladder out of poverty for some and also our generation's climate achilles heal. Exploring the corners of the world is good for the mind and body but it can also fuel over-consumption and the ballooning climate crisis. But we all eat, and I think we all should explore. The world is complex and full of tradeoffs. A few career achievements: *Designed and launched regenerative agriculture pilots aimed at the climate crisis, CARGILL *Led strategy conception of social-impact outreach events for electric vehicles, RIVIAN *Oversaw global innovation competitions, reviewed thousands of applications, & selected winners, IDEO.ORG *Empowered 500+ university students and lecturers to identify & creatively solve social & environmental problems, UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA & others *Expanded microfinance programs for water & sanitation that now reach 60 million people in the global south, WATER.ORG I am currently supporting a more creative, sustainable, & inclusive future by: *Serving as Board Member of the SUPERIOR HIKING TRAIL ASSOCIATION in Minnesota *Mentoring homeless and at-risk populations through volunteer role with nonprofit MILE IN MY SHOES *Teaching my daughter how to rock climb, run, canoe, and ski before she can fully talk :). As a returned Peace Corps Volunteer and Fulbright Fellow I am bilingual (Spanish), I have cross-cultural experience in 35+ countries, and I know how to navigate ambiguous and challenging environments. And as an active mind I do my best thinking outdoors exploring, running, canoeing, and biking. You can find me outside.
