Hi. Whether you specifically were looking for me, have stumbled on my profile, or were looking for someone who fits my profile, thanks for stopping by and spending a few minutes. For the last 25 years, I have been practicing labor and employment law. While I consider myself an "L&E generalist" and have represented clients in discrimination/harassment/retaliation claims, restrictive covenant litigation, wage and hour actions, etc., the majority of my career has been spent representing both unions and employers in traditional labor matters. Yes, you've read that last sentence correctly. For the first twelve years of my career, I represented unions and their fringe benefit funds. For the last twelve years, I have represented employers in their traditional labor matters. While atypical for someone to switch sides in this business, there is nothing to read into this change. There have been no political conversion, epiphanies, or moments of clarity. Sometimes you just need to see how the other side works to best represent your clients. I think that by having this different perspective, I've helped achieve better results for my clients. Labor Board work, federal court litigation, grievance and arbitrations, collective bargaining…I’ve seen and done it all. I also like to write a little on the side and post content that should help your labor relations run more smoothly, regardless of your union or non-union status. I am not someone defined by my work. I have three terrific kids and a beautiful wife. I love college football (Go Blue!) and premier league football (Up the Villa!). I watch both professional wrestling and figure skating. I play hockey (only semi-retired) and dance/act in our local community theatre. You're just as likely to find me jamming out to a classic rock concert in a stadium as sitting in the terrace at a classical music masterpiece at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
