Richard Keenan

Dick Keenan is a lawyer, with broad experience in complex commercial litigation and mediation. From 1993 to 2018 Dick was actively involved in the wine business - as an investor, vineyard owner, wine grape grower and winery owner. Dick now is a volunteer attorney representing undocumented immigrants. Dick lives in San Francisco, California, with his wife, Kathy McNamara. He is an active runner (now slowly training for the NYC Marathon November 3), swimmer at the South End Rowing Club and sailor in the San Francisco Bay. In 2000, Dick planted the Kick Ranch vineyard on land first settled by pioneers in 1854. Under his ownership, Kick Ranch became a certified, sustainably farmed vineyard and was named one of the “marquee” vineyards in Sonoma County. In 2017, Dick grew grapes for 19 premium Napa and Sonoma wineries. Dick also started to small premium wineries, first Carica Wines which he sold in 2009 and then in 2010 Overland Wines, which he sold to the E&J Gallo Winery in 2016. In 2008, Dick retired from 31 years of active trial practice in San Francisco. After serving as a law clerk for Judge William W Schwarzer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, he began with Morrison & Foerster in 1978 and in 1981 he joined Folger Levin & Kahn. Dick represented plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters. Dick received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1977. Dick received a B. B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 1974, where he majored in accounting. As a graduating senior, he received the highest score on the Uniform CPA Exam and received the Indiana Gold Medal.
