About Raed Gonzalez
Raed Gonzalez was born in Puerto Rico. He earned his B.A. Cum Laude in 1992, and his J.D. Cum Laude, in 1996 from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, where he served as associate editor of the school’s law review. As part of his legal studies, in 1995 he studied comparative constitutional law at the University of Barcelona in Spain, where he received instruction from U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Mr. Gonzalez then received his L.L.M. in Health Law from the University of Houston Law Center in 1998. He has served as an immigration law practitioner for over 25 years and is eligible to practice in the Southern District of Texas Federal Courts, as well as in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 9th, and 11th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and in the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Gonzalez is recognized as an outstanding immigration litigator and advocate in the U.S., and his opinions are respected and trusted in the legal community. He has won 12 Certiorari Petitions before the Supreme Court of the United States, three of which have helped change immigration law throughout the country and many precedential decisions before the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. Among all of his accolades, in 2023, he received the Warrior Advocate Award from the State Bar of Texas for his work in immigration law. He was featured in the Who’s Who: American Law Students, 1994-1995, and was on the Dean’s List in 1996. He received the Harvey Nachman Award for outstanding participation in the Legal Aid Clinic at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico in 1996. He was also featured in Who’s Who in American Immigration Law 2007-2008, and Who’s Who in America 2009. He is a longstanding member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, and a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas. He has been named a Texas Magazine Top Lawyer from 2012 to the present, a Texas Monthly Magazine Top Layer from 2012 to present, Houston Magazine Top Layer from 2014 to present, and Houstonia Magazine Top Lawyer since 2014 to the present; has been selected by his peers as a Super Lawyer for the Reuters Super Lawyer Organization since 2012, and has been a recipient of AVOO rating of excellence. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016 from the Texas Lawyer Magazine, and has been recognized as a Best Lawyer by U.S. News Magazine since 2019.
