As both an immigrant and an immigration attorney, I have spent over two decades helping individuals and businesses navigate the complexities of U.S. immigration law. My passion for this field was ignited early in my career when I represented a woman from Liberia seeking asylum—an experience that reinforced my belief that immigration is more than a legal process. It is a catalyst for opportunity, economic growth, and global connection. Throughout my career, I have advised organizations across diverse industries—including healthcare, manufacturing, technology, professional services, higher education, and nonprofit sectors—ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 companies and multinational enterprises. Beyond traditional visa and permanent residency work, my practice focuses on immigration-adjacent compliance and strategic matters. Here are some examples: immigration due diligence in M&A transactions (I-9 audits, workforce verification, visa portability in stock and asset deals); federal and state enforcement actions; Form I-9 and E-Verify compliance program development and audit defense; professional services agreements for executives/partners; collective bargaining agreements addressing IRCA and E-Verify requirements; and physician practice counsel: from J-1 waiver applications and licensing through foreign credential verification to permanent residence sponsorship. Board Leadership & Governance: I serve on the Board of Directors of the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) serving on the Governance and Audit Committees. This governance work has deepened my expertise in audit committee oversight, fiduciary responsibility, compliance frameworks, policy decisions on board composition, officer elections, conflict of interest protocols, and mission-driven leadership. I also serve as a Managing Director on the Board of International Exchange Travel Insurance Company, LLC (IEXTICO), a Vermont captive insurance company. My responsibilities include audit committee oversight of financial statements, actuarial opinions, and regulatory compliance; risk management decisions on loss reserves, claims analysis, and premium rate approvals; and strategic financial governance including budget evaluation and dividend policy. In today's interconnected world, I am energized by the role immigration plays in building bridges across cultures, driving innovation, and creating economic opportunity.
