Paul Sandler

Paul Mark Sandler is a partner in the Baltimore law firm Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler, where he chairs the litigation practice and represents clients in trials and appeals in Maryland and throughout the United States. He handles civil cases as well as white-collar criminal and constitutional-law cases. The 2013 edition of Chambers USA, a leading guide to the legal industry, states: "Paul Sandler is often sought for his substantial experience in trial and appellate court, and he also maintains a fine track record in mediation and arbitration." The guide quotes one source as saying, "Mr. Sandler is a truly gifted trial lawyer with deep experience in all areas of civil litigation and criminal defense work. His understanding of all aspects of courtroom presentation is extraordinary." Mr. Sandler is a frequent lecturer on rhetoric and trial strategy, and the author of eight books, including Anatomy of a Trial: A Handbook for Young Lawyers and Raising the Bar: Practice Tips and Trial Technique for Young Maryland Lawyers. In addition, Mr. Sandler was the founder and first chair of the Litigation Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, and past secretary of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association. In early 2011 he was named a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. As part of his mission to help educate young trial lawyers on the art of trial advocacy, Mr. Sandler created a “boot camp” trial-training school known as The Litigation Institute for Trial Training (LITT). This program, now under the aegis of the ABA Litigation Section, is designed to give young trial lawyers intensive courtroom instruction in one and two-day programs offered annually. A native of Baltimore, Mr. Sandler contributes time to many Maryland organizations, including the Board of the Legal Aid Bureau of Maryland.
