I am a Divorce/Family Law attorney. I specialize in representing business owners, medical professionals, and farmers during family law proceedings. Among other things, I help them maintain control of their business operations during divorce, ensure that all support orders are based upon appropriate income figures, and pay as little as possible in the conclusion of their cases. I help clients understand the importance of divorce planning, how businesses are valued, how income available for support is determined, and how support is calculated. I work well with clients' established internal organization and chosen professionals. I have specialized knowledge in accounting, taxation, and work closely with the client’s CFO and CPA. I am a member of the Forensic and Valuation Services Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. I utilize my network of financial experts to help trace and protect clients' separate property interests in their business organizations, income sources, and other significant assets. I have extensive experience in cases involving agri-business and professional practices. I am also very familiar with real property law, title issues and their nexus with family law. My 26 years of practice have allowed me to develop a great depth of knowledge about business law, the nuances of entity formats such as sub-chapter “s” corporations, “c” corporations, limited liability partnerships, and how to differentiate these entities from the client in the eyes of the Family Court. My education has also helped me in this specialty as I have an undergraduate degree in business and graduated in the top ten percent of my law school class.
