I have spent the last 18 years litigating commercial and insurance coverage cases and resolving business disputes. Some of the types of claims I have prosecuted and defended (or on which I have been asked to give counsel) include bad faith, fraud, conversion, breach of contract, real estate disputes, partnership disputes, minority shareholder oppression actions, derivative actions, trade secrets, restrictive covenants and breach of fiduciary duties. I have also represented both plaintiffs and defendants in professional liability actions (involving accountants and lawyers), some of which involved claims of aiding and abetting the commission of torts by clients (breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, etc.). This is a cause of action first recognized in Illinois in the case of Thornwood, Inc., et al. v. Jenner & Block, et al., 799 N.E.2d 756 (Ill. App. Ct. 2003). One of my former partners and I represented the plaintiffs.
