Neil Popovic

As a partner at Sheppard Mullin, I lead the Firm’s International Litigation and Arbitration Team and serve on the Leadership Group for our ESG and Sustainability Team, which I helped launch and previously led. My practice spans international disputes, including transnational litigation and arbitration, with extensive experience in commercial disputes as well as disputes involving sovereign states. I also have extensive experience in international environmental law and previously served as a Project Complaint Mechanism Expert for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In ESG and Sustainability, I draw on my background in public interest international environmental law and 28 years of teaching related topics at Berkeley Law to advise clients on climate change, environmental marketing, and the intersection of human rights and the environment. My domestic litigation experience includes commercial disputes, consumer class actions, and white-collar criminal matters, with particular expertise in environmental marketing claims and California's Unfair Competition Law. Committed to pro bono work, I serve on Sheppard Mullin’s firmwide Pro Bono Committee and continue to work on pro bono matters. On the academic side, my courses cover International Litigation and Arbitration, International Environmental Law, and Rule of Law.
