About Neil Cahn

A graduate of Yale College and a Law Review graduate of the Hofstra University School of Law, Neil Cahn has practiced law on Long Island for more than 30 years. Mr. Cahn's practice is concentrated in divorce and family law and commercial litigation. He represents clients on matters relating to property division, spousal and child support, custody, visitation and other parenting issues, and estate disputes. In the commercial area, Mr. Cahn is involved with the dissolution of commercial entities, disputes between partners or other co-owners, employer/employee issues, and similar matters. Mr. Cahn also represents clients with planning and entering agreements. With families, these include prenuptial, post-nuptial and separation agreements and divorce stipulations of settlement. In commercial settings, these agreements include partnership and shareholder agreements, employment agreements, severance plans, etc. Neil Cahn has been certified in the Collaborative Divorce process by the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, and in Family Mediation by the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and the Mediation Institute of New York. He is a member of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals and of Collaborative Dispute Resolutions, both organizations promoting the interdisciplinary settlement of conflicts using the Collaborative Process. Mr. Cahn is also admitted in the United States District Courts, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States, and has served as a court-appointed arbitrator for the United States District Court. He is a former member of the Nassau County Supreme Court Matrimonial Neutral Evaluation Panel. Mr. Cahn is a past revision author of Matthew Bender’s New York Civil Practice, Matrimonial Actions. He has served on the Hofstra Law School Adjunct Factulty, and written and lectured for the State University of New York, various bar associations and professional organizations, as well as other lay groups.
