Muira Mishra

As founder and principal of MKM Law Group, Muira Mishra brings more than 25 years of employment law experience, offering expert legal and practical business advice on a wide range of labor and employment-related matters. Ms. Mishra has provided legal advice to a broad array of clients, ranging from international corporations, healthcare systems, financial institutions and franchised retail shops to non-profit companies and sole proprietors. Her knowledge was built from her experience as a successful employment attorney with a national firm, Foley & Lardner, LLP, and as Vice President and Labor and Employment Counsel for St. Joseph Health System, a $4 billion integrated healthcare delivery system with more than 25,000 employees. In both of these roles, Ms. Mishra served as the primary legal advisor to management and human resource professionals on a multitude of issues, including wage/hour laws, new legislation, sensitive employee disciplines or terminations, leaves of absence management and reasonable accommodation obligations, union campaigns and collective bargaining matters, corporate restructuring and reductions-in-force. As a former litigator, Ms. Mishra understands the complexity of employment litigation, including wage and hour class actions, and the need for front-end handling and prevention. Her law practice today places a special emphasis on preventive and proactive strategies for organizations, especially in the wage and hour area. Over the years, she has spearheaded and conducted numerous comprehensive wage and hour audits of companies’ payroll practices to ensure compliance with complex federal/state legal requirements, partnered with clients to implement corrective measures and strategies identified from those audits, and conducted training programs to ensure a solid knowledge base amongst all employee and management levels. Ms. Mishra has been recognized as providing practical legal advice, with a strong focus on business solutions. Ms. Mishra is a frequent speaker at various professional organization events and has trained thousands of executives, managers and employees. She previously served as a White House Intern in the Office of the Presidential Personnel. Ms. Mishra received her bachelor’s degree cum laude from UCLA in Business/Economics and received her law degree from Loyola Law School, graduating with honors. Ms. Mishra is a member of the California State Bar, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association and other Human Resources professional organizations.
