Moises Aguilar

Aguilar & Sonnonstine founding partner Moises Aguilar obtained his juris doctorate degree from Whittier Law School. Born and raised in Santa Ana, he attended Santa Ana public schools from kindergarten through high school. After graduating from Santa Ana High School, he went on to attend the University of Southern California, where he earned his B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Law and Society. At USC he also completed coursework for a certification program in Music Recording Arts.Moises’ professional legal career includes serving as a law clerk at Newport Beach-based Berger Harrison, where he assisted in various civil litigation matters ranging from construction defects to consumer rights class action suits. He also served as a case assistant on a large, multi-party construction defects case in association with the Orange County office of Latham & Watkins.Moises spent two years as a court certified law clerk for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. During his tenure with the District Attorney’s Office, his assignments included the Homicide Unit and West Court, where he conducted research and analyzed legal issues for misdemeanor and felony prosecutions and argued preliminary hearings and motions to suppress.In 2009, Moises founded Aguilar & Sonnonstine with Whittier Law School colleague Ben Sonnonstine. His practice focuses almost exclusively on criminal defense matters. He has successfully represented individuals accused of misdemeanors and felonies, including DUI, drug crimes (possession and sales), sex crimes, theft crimes, domestic violence, and more. Though his practice focuses in Orange County, Moises has defended individuals in courts all over Southern California.A resident of Santa Ana with his wife and two daughters, he enjoys recording, performing and writing music. Moises is fluent in both speaking and writing Spanish
