Melissa Godwin

Melissa's practice specializes in complex commercial litigation - frequently with an international component - extending across a broad range of subject matters and industries. She regularly represents financial services companies (including investment banks, hedge funds, collateral managers and fintechs) and large corporate clients in the tech, energy, real estate and retail sectors in connection with contractual disputes, as well as in connection with securities, M&A, RICO, antitrust and bankruptcy issues. Melissa also represents clients in regulatory investigations, including investigations by the SEC, DOJ, and state and foreign regulators. Melissa particularly enjoys working with clients on pre-dispute situation management and risk control in high-stakes, commercially sensitive scenarios. Melissa regularly appears before state and federal courts. A Spanish speaker, Melissa has conducted numerous internal investigations and pre-transaction compliance reviews, including in connection with several high profile and politically significant corruption investigations in Latin America.
