About Melissa Brescia
Attorney Brescia began her career in family law, including divorce, alimony, child custody, and post judgment modification and enforcement actions. Her approach is tailored for each individual case in order to provide clients with personalized representation, while efficiently resolving legal issues. Attorney Brescia strives to negotiate and mediate issues outside of court in order to reduce the emotional and financial burden on her clients; however, her extensive courtroom experience allows her to zealously litigate cases when negotiations fail. Attorney Brescia expanded her practice areas to include education law, employment law, and estate planning. By expanding her practice areas, she is able to assist clients in all walks of life: from advocating for children to receive special education services in school, to negotiating employment contracts or severance agreements, to drafting trusts and last will and testaments to ensure her clients’ final wishes are met. Her compassionate and knowledge provide the support and guidance that clients need to face these difficult issues. Attorney Brescia has a demonstrated record of public service. In 2008, she interned at the United States Senate where she assisted constituents faced with foreclosure in applying for Federal services that would allow them to retain their homes. Her compassion and interest in public service lead her to pursue her Juris Doctor at Touro Law Center in New York. Attorney Brescia worked at nonprofit organizations to provide domestic violence victims with legal services. She also has experience investigating employment discrimination claims. Additionally, she worked at the Veterans’ and Servicemembers’ Rights Clinic where she assisted veterans on a variety of issues including criminal defense and military review proceedings. Attorney Brescia is admitted to practice law in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts.
