Maurice Jenkins

MAURICE G. JENKINS opened and served as the Managing Shareholder of the Detroit, Michigan and Grand Rapids, Michigan offices of the national workplace law firm of Jackson Lewis P.C. from February 2008 through 2017. For over 30 years Mr. Jenkins has advised and represented employers in a wide array of industries with respect to labor and employment law, compliance and governance matters. He has defended clients against administrative claims and lawsuits across America. Mr. Jenkins, who is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, as well as The College of Labor & Employment Lawyers, is also called upon to try difficult cases that cannot be resolved amicably. A former member of the American Bar Association’s Task Force on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and frequent lecturer on defending against whistleblower claims, Mr. Jenkins also has extensive experience in litigating retaliation claims under a myriad of federal and state laws. He also has been retained to assist clients in developing effective labor and personnel strategies to enhance management rights, achieve legal compliance, and promote positive employee relations. He also has conducted sensitive internal investigations into claims of harassment, fraud and other business misconduct. Combining a background in both accounting and law, Mr. Jenkins has lectured and offered employers informed guidance with respect to conducting internal investigations, and attaining optimal compliance structures that enhance operational effectiveness and market competitiveness. Specialties: Litigation of single, multi-plaintiff and pattern and practice claims of discrimination, hostile environment harassment, whistleblower, disparate impact and systemic discrimination; strategic and preventive counseling to labor and employment law issues arising from reorganizations; and corporate governance and internal investigations.
