Mary Maddox

My current civil litigation practice focuses primarily on torts, labor and employment, and workers' compensation claims. I have litigated in many counties in Tennessee in the areas of accident cases, malpractice claims, workers’ compensation, and collections. I enjoy litigation and welcome the challenge of court appearances and trials. I spend quite a bit of time at various offices of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development/Bureau of Workers' Compensation and frequently work with the administrative appeals process in several different areas of the law. I have served as counsel in domestic cases and as a guardian ad litem appointed by the court. I consider the diversity of my practice and the various types of litigation I have handled to be an asset to my litigation skills. I am listed as a Rule 31 listed civil and family law mediator in the State of Tennessee. Although I zealously represent each of my clients, I believe that one of my greatest strengths is helping my clients avoid unnecessary litigation and unnecessary costs. I have served in many capacities for the Tennessee Bar Association as well as the Knoxville Bar Association. I am a member of the Defense Research Institute and Hamilton Burnett Inn of Court. Outside of my practice, I enjoy being a parent and a volunteer. I have served on various committees at my family’s church, the Women’s Fund of East Tennessee, the Florence Crittenton Agency, ChildHelp, Character Counts!
