I am primarily a bankruptcy attorney with experience in representing clients on all sides of a bankruptcy case from debtors (individual and business) to creditors (with all types of claims) to creditors' committees, to trustee's to examiners to receivers. My insolvency, business litigation and creditors' rights experience goes hand in glove with my bankruptcy experience and gives me the advantage of not only anticipating the other side's next move, but also knowing and understanding what the other side is thinking. Regarding bankruptcy, I view the bankruptcy code as an opportunity to negotiate. The bankruptcy code is a unique set of rules that provides both debtors and creditors certain rights and there will usually be an opportunity to reach an amicable solution given litigation can be so costly both financially and emotionally. The message I most often deliver to my clients is that while seeing litigation through to the end rarely makes sense, preparing to litigate often results in the best settlement opportunities. The message is based on the philosphy first quoted by Seneca, a Roman philosopher, dramatist and physician who died in 65 A.D (and often repeated by famous Green Bay Packers legendary coach, Vince Lombardi): "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity."
