About Mark Baute
Mark Baute is the managing partner of Baute Crochetiere Hartley & Velkei LLP, a business litigation trial firm in downtown Los Angeles. He has tried more than 60 complex business cases to verdict. Most of those trials were jury trials, ranging from complex federal antitrust and racketeering trials, to unfair competition, trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, wrongful termination, copyright and trademark infringement, Board and CEO corporate control disputes, partnership dissolution, professional liability and the full spectrum of contract disputes. Mr. Baute was honored as one of California’s top 20 lawyers under 40 by the Los Angeles Daily Journal. He is an “AV” rated trial lawyer and has been honored by Los Angeles Magazine as one of Southern California’s “Super Lawyers.” In 2014, Mr. Baute was honored as one of the top “100 Power Lawyers” in the nation by The Hollywood Reporter. Because Mr. Baute has successfully first chaired many jury trials, he has a deep understanding of what the actual finish line looks like in a courtroom. He applies his trial experience to create efficient trial strategies and tactics, and to help clients understand how and why time and money spent during the pre-trial process directly links to maximizing the chances for success at trial. He believes that hours billed is an outmoded way of measuring success and talent within the legal profession, and that clients value business judgment and strategic foresight far more than the amount of time spent.
