About Mario Godoy
I’m Mario Godoy – an immigrant, a U.S. Citizen and an immigration lawyer. I founded Godoy Law Office to Help Immigrants Make America Their Home. From our 6 offices in the greater Chicago area, we help clients nationwide and abroad. Godoy Law Office Immigration Lawyers focuses on family-based immigration law, business immigration law, removal defense and criminal defense representation of immigrants. I understand the immigrant's American Dream. I was born in Guatemala and came to the United States at only 6 months old, and my grandmother helped raise me while my young parents worked and went to school. My first language was Spanish, and I never spoke English until I went to school at age 6. As a child, I was inspired watching my father receive his Master’s Degree, while my mother opened her own hair salon. With memories of a family member who was deported due to bad legal advice and seeing my family experience injustices that many immigrants face in the United States, I went to law school with the goal to be part of the solution. As a legal entrepreneur who practices immigration law, criminal law and estate and probate law, plus running 2 successful, thriving law firms (Godoy Law Office and Estate and Probate Legal Group) my goal is to help other immigrants achieve their American dream too. As a husband, father and immigrant, I understand 1st hand the importance of keeping families together and making a home and a future in America. Illinois Crimmigration Lawyer I am an Illinois crimmigration lawyer. Crimmigration is defending immigrants charged with a criminal case. I have experience in successfully guiding documented and undocumented clients with immigration issues through a criminal case. A criminal charge or conviction can be devastating to your immigration case. In some instances, it may mean the end of your opportunity to remain in the United States. Any time that you are facing pending charges or criminal convictions you should consult with an attorney experienced in both immigration law and criminal defense. It is essential for immigration attorneys and defense attorneys to understand the immigration consequences of criminal convictions. Record numbers of legal permanent residents and undocumented immigrants are being deported from the United States, often because of previous criminal convictions. I am fluent in English and Spanish; many immigrants are victims of the complicated U.S. immigration system because they are not fluent in English and need legal advice in their native language.
