Lauren Petkin

Lauren Petkin is the founder and principal attorney of Lauren S. Petkin Family Law and Mediation, with an office based in Los Angeles, California. Taking Lauren’s 33 year family law expertise, she opened her own practice with a mission to continue to provide intelligent and compassionate counseling, mediation, and skillful legal representation for you and your family. As a long time practitioner at two of Los Angeles’ preeminent family law firms, Lauren has participated in a wide spectrum of family law matters ranging from contested multi-million dollar estates, high conflict custody battles and the drafting and negotiating of prenuptial, postnuptial and cohabitation agreements. She has had extensive experience in handling all issues that arise incident to a divorce or family law matter and has also witnessed the emotional and financial toll that contested litigation has on the families involved. Her undergraduate degree in Business was obtained from the University of California at Berkeley. She went on to earn her J.D. degree from USC School of Law. She has undergone hundreds of hours of training in alternative dispute resolution, including training with Forest “Woody” Mosten, Gary Friedman at The Center for Understanding In Conflict, and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Lauren is an active member of the legal community - Family Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, former member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, member of Los Angeles Westside Collaborative Divorce Professionals, and other interdisciplinary groups of professionals in Los Angeles committed to non-court solutions for family law matters. Throughout her family law career, she has volunteered with The Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law (legal access for low income clients), the Los Angeles County Bar Association Domestic Violence Project, the Daily Settlement Officer program at the Los Angeles Court, and a volunteer presenter at Second Saturday L.A., a monthly divorce workshop for people who want to know more about the legal, financial, and emotional aspects of divorce before they commence the process.
