Lauren Barros

Ms. Barros owns Lauren Barros Law, specializing in divorce, assisted reproduction law, adoption, and complicated family law issues. Lauren is AV rated by Martindale Hubble and a Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys. Lauren is a member of the Utah State Bar Family Law Executive Committee (Chair 2011-2012), the National Center for Lesbian Rights’ Family Law Advisory Council, the Women Lawyers of Utah (President 2001-2002), and the American Inns of Court. Lauren volunteers as the Co-Leader of the Wasatch Back chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Lauren received the Utah State Bar "Distinguished Family Law Practitioner" award in 2006 and the "Most Fabulous Attorney" award from Q Salt Lake Magazine many times. Catalyst magazine named Lauren one of Utah’s “Catalyst 100” and the Community Foundation of Utah selected her as one of its “Enlightened 50” individuals who are “making a real difference in the lives of Utahns through innovation, collaboration and commitment to the common good.” She received Equality Utah's Allies Award in 2006. In 2004, Utah Business Magazine gave her a "Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars" award, and she has been consistently listed in Utah Business Magazine's Family Law “Legal Elite” for many years. In her volunteer time, Lauren co-leads the Wasatch Back chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, developing bipartisan support for a clean energy future. In 2009, Lauren helped create the first free LGBTQ Law Clinic in Utah, Rainbow Law, and continues to provide pro bono help to transyouth. She also provided free advice at the Third District Family Law Clinic for many years. Lauren was a member of the Third District Court Judicial Nominating Commission from 2018-2023, a Small Claims Court judge from 1998-2005, on the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team from 1998-2003, and on the Board of the Friends of the Utah Avalanche Forecasters from 2005-2007.
