I am an experienced employment attorney who partners with business owners, company executives, Human Resource (HR) professionals and fellow lawyers on a daily basis to solve small to complex employment law issues. I provide offensive strategies (e.g., handbook reviews, training, day-to-day advice, etc.) to companies who are looking to avoid common workplace issues that lead to litigation or to strengthen existing HR practices. I also provide defensive strategies (e.g., liability reviews, representation in litigation, post-suit pointers) to companies who are sued or threatened with suits. I have represented clients in a variety of industries including retail, hospitality, healthcare, education, public housing, and technology. As a result of my experience, I have had the opportunity to advise clients and litigate cases arising under various federal and state laws including, but not limited to, the FLSA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, FMLA, FCRA, COBRA, ERISA, Florida Civil Rights Act, Florida Private and Public Sector Whistleblower Acts, and the Florida Minimum Wage Act. Additionally, for the past several years, I have represented one of the largest employers in the city in handling education law issues. My practice includes regular appearances before federal, state, and administrative courts across the state of Florida. However, I have represented companies with locations outside of Florida and as a result, I have also appeared pro hac in courts located in other jurisdictions. I am admitted to practice in both Florida and Illinois. My passion is for educating clients on effective strategies and proactive steps to guard against potential claims through training, day-to-day advice, handbook development/reviews, and comprehensive assessments of risks associated with personnel decisions. However, I enjoy litigating cases and take pride in providing clients with an aggressive defense.
