Kyle Petersen

I work with employers throughout the country to navigate the web of employment laws impacting their workforce and bottom line. Day in and day out, I litigate all manner of employment-related lawsuits and represent clients in responding to administrative charges before federal, state and local agencies. In addition to a busy litigation practice, I routinely help my clients stay out of the courtroom by advising them with respect to the full range of employment laws, conducting internal investigations, negotiating and drafting employment and separation agreements and advising employers on implementing personnel policies and mitigating risk in employment decisions. My practice includes the representation of broad range of clients in the financial services industry, including institutional lenders, national exchanges, private equity funds, hedge funds, and proprietary trading firms. Specialties: In my practice, I place a special emphasis on wage and hour matters, including representing employers faced with large class and collective actions that pose significant business risks. In this area, I also have extensive experience counseling employers regarding employee classifications, including the development of strategies for minimizing potential exposure associated with classification changes, and representing management in department of labor audits.
