i have handled many thousands of criminal cases over the past 27 years, including many serious felony charges such as murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping and so-called "three strike" cases. i have handled 46 homicide cases (including 5 "special circumstances" or death penalty cases); out of those 46 murder cases, only 1 client was found guilty as charged. of the 5 death penalty cases, 2 were outright acquittals at trial, one client was convicted of accessory and served 18 months, and the others were convicted of lesser offenses. none of my clients was given the death penalty. of course, i have tried many other types of cases, and have gained many acquittals for my clients on cases such as rape, burglary, robbery, narcotics, etc. several of my cases have received national news coverage -- for example, the famous "party boat murder case" in san francisco bay (where my client was acquitted of murder for throwing a man overboard during a halloween party) and the notorious "prosecutor stabs man for urinating on his house" case, (where my client, a san francisco district attorney, was accused of a serious knife assault and acquitted after a trial in marin county). i have also won cases for celebrities, including the rape trial of victor willis, a founding member of the famous "village people" band (the one who dressed up like a cop, and wrote the song "ymca") where mr. willis was tried and acquitted of the forcible rape of a student at hastings law school. i have handled, and continue to handle, any criminal case from drunk driving through first degree murder. i believe that my record in winning trials is unsurpassed in san francisco and elsewhere. specialties: i handle all types of criminal cases, and specialize in serious and difficult felony cases.
