Katelyn Werner

Katelyn S. Werner focuses her practice primarily in the representation of corporations and professionals against various claims including contractual disputes, professional liability, employment discrimination, personal injury, wrongful death claims, and 1983 actions. She represents insurance companies in cases involving complex extra-contractual and coverage.Ms. Werner also represents railroads in various ways, including property disputes, preemption issues, takings actions before the Court of Federal Claims, and administrative proceedings before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and the Surface Transportation Board. She has represented railroads in Federal Employers' Liability Act lawsuits and crossing collisions. Ms. Werner's experience includes serving as national counsel for a Class I railroad in mass tort cases.Ms. Werner has successfully represented clients in commercial disputes as well as all aspects of litigation in state and federal court, including pre-litigation matters, dispositive motions practice, settlements, jury and bench trials, and appeals.Ms. Werner has presented at CLE's at the national, state, and local levels and provided other presentations concerning the practice of law and emerging legal issues.Ms. Werner received her Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2009 and a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity University in 2005 graduating with majors in economics, political science, and urban studies with an emphasis in the built environment.Ms. Werner is licensed to practice in Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.Publications:• Addressing the Problem with Unlicensed Public Adjusters" Co-Author, Insurance Law, DRI, For The Defense, Vol. 64, No. 6.
